Wave 3: The Hymn to the Guru of all Gurus
Introduction
This wave is a major wave. It contains what is known as dakshiNA-mUrti ashTakam, a hymn of ten verses composed by Adi Sankara. It is a capsule version of the entire advaita vedanta. A famous commentary called mAnasollAsa, by his disciple Sri Suresvaracharya ( maNDana-miSra, was his earlier name before he took sannyAsa) is our main source for interpreting this hymn. We give, in the succeeding pages, for each verse,
